About the JDG

The JDG is an informal and lively forum for discussing original work in legal theory and philosophy of law. Open to everybody, the JDG is particularly directed at graduate students, who are encouraged to present their legal philosophical works in progress, participate in our debates, or simply drop by and listen to the discussion. We meet on Thursday afternoons during term time, mostly in the Massey Room of Balliol College. Presentations normally begin at 5pm.

Since its creation in 1997 by Timothy Endicott, the JDG has been convened by junior members of the Law Faculty and graduate students. You can read more about that on our History page.

In 2017-2018 the JDG is convened by Achas Burin and Hasan Dindjer (more on the Convenors page).
